Guiding Growth, Shaping Success.™
Sopris Ventures is a business operations consultancy based in Basalt, Colorado. We help contractors and small business owners build better companies. Our founder has done this exactly one time before, which is one more time than most consultants.

Our Core Competencies
We’ve organized our services into three categories because consultants love doing that.

Operations & Workflow Design
We help businesses implement the operational systems they’ve been meaning to set up since they opened. Proposals, project management, scheduling, invoicing — the stuff that separates a company from a guy with a truck and a dream. Not that there’s anything wrong with the truck.

Sales & Growth Strategy
Pricing strategy, revenue diversification, market positioning — the things you’d be doing if you weren’t on a job site fourteen hours a day. We’ve built these systems for our own company and they work. We were as surprised as anyone.

Financial Clarity & Planning
We help business owners develop financial visibility, which is a polite way of saying we help them look at their numbers instead of just hoping. Hiring decisions, resource planning, and the occasional difficult conversation with a spreadsheet.

About the Firm
Sopris Ventures was founded by Robert Huber, co-founder of a technology integration company in Colorado’s Roaring Fork Valley. He builds smart homes, programs automation systems, and runs a company that has — by most reasonable metrics — turned out well. He will be the first to acknowledge that starting a business in one of the wealthiest zip codes in America, surrounded by good people and favorable timing, is not exactly a hardship story. But he also did the work. Both things can be true, and in his case, they are.
He started Sopris Ventures because he kept getting asked how he did it, and “I don’t know, it just sort of happened” didn’t feel like a responsible answer.

Why Sopris Ventures
- Founded by someone who actually operates a business, not someone who read about it.
- Advice based on what worked in practice, which occasionally differed from the plan.
- Specific to trades and small businesses, because that’s what we know.
- Based in Basalt, Colorado, where the cost of living keeps us appropriately motivated.

“If it worked the first time, it probably wasn’t ambitious enough.”
